The Domestic Violence Unit provides intensive supervision to adult offenders sentenced to probation for committing acts of domestic violence. While the unit applies a variety of educational and/or therapeutic interventions in order to assist the offender in learning how not to return to the offending behavior, the emphasis is on community protection, especially in regard to real and/or potential victims.
The Unit works hand in hand with the department’s victim outreach officers to ensure that the safety of victims is paramount in the work that is done. The department has an onsite cognitive behavioral therapy program run by our partners at the Urban Resource Institute. Currently, we have groups for both men and women in English and Spanish.
